Cemex opens cement plant expansion in Guatemala
Cemex LatAm Holding (CLH), Cemex’s regional operating
company in Latin
America ,
has completed the expansion of cement production and bagging capacity at its Arizona plant in Puerto de San José , Guatemala .
Following improvements to the plant’s milling operations and
the installation of a new US$3.7 million bagging line, the company expects
cement production capacity to increase by 10% to 0.545 million tpy, while
bagging capacity is expected to increase by 46% to 95 tph.
The opening ceremony took plant on 29 March and was attended
by senior executives from CLH, including Jaime Muguiro General Director of CLH,
and Guillermo Rojo de Diego, Country Manager of CEMEX Guatemala, and René
Aparicio, Operations Manager of CEMEX Guatemala.
“We are pleased to be part of the progress of the different
regions and markets where we operated directly, as well as being an agent for
change for the construction industry in Guatemala ,” said Muguiro.
The company has operated in Guatemala for more than 15 years, operating a
cement plant and four concrete plants. It employs more than 200 people and
generates sales above US$100 million per year. In addition to
Guatemala, CLH operates in Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El
Salvador, and Brazil.
